Kvasi — Children's Data Notice
Version: v3-2026-06-25 · Last updated: 2026-06-25
It has two layers: a child-friendly version (for the child) and a precise version (for the adult).
Part A — For the child (plain, friendly)
What does Kvasi remember about you? Kvasi remembers the name you picked (it can be a made-up name!), and what you've been learning — which sounds and words you've practised, and what you're getting good at. It uses that to give you the next thing that's just right for you — not too easy, not too hard.
Kvasi does not know where you live. It doesn't show you adverts. It's not trying to keep you playing for ages — it wants you to learn, then go and play outside too.
A grown-up who looks after you can see how you're doing, and can ask Kvasi to forget everything if you ever want that.
Part B — For the adult: exactly what we ask you to agree to
At registration we record a short, append-only consent history. No IP address is stored. Each entry is stamped with the policy version it refers to.
| What you're agreeing to | What it covers | Required? | Lawful basis | Default |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Accept the Terms | You accept the Terms. | Required to register | Contract | — |
| Read the Privacy Policy | You've read the Privacy Policy. | Required to register | Contract | — |
| Run the game for your child | We process your child's play/progress data to run the game (pick their next lesson). | Required to play | Contract — Art 6(1)(b) | — |
| Help improve Kvasi | Use your child's pseudonymised play data to improve Kvasi and how we teach. | Optional | Consent — Art 6(1)(a) | OFF |
| Newsletters | Newsletters / product-update emails to you (the adult). | Optional | Consent — Art 6(1)(a) | OFF |
Why running the game is an acknowledgement, not "consent"
Tracking a child's progress is necessary to deliver the service you signed up for — without it Kvasi can't teach adaptively. Under UK GDPR, consent must be freely given and refusable; since you can't refuse this and still use the product, dressing it up as "consent" would be misleading. So:
- Its lawful basis is contract (Art 6(1)(b)).
- We still record your acknowledgement at registration as proof we told you clearly.
- The data is minimal and pseudonymised (see below), used only to teach your child.
Why the two opt-ins are genuine consent
Helping improve Kvasi and receiving newsletters are not needed to run the game. They're strictly opt-in, default off, and you can withdraw either at any time in account settings without losing any access. Declining them changes nothing about your child's experience.
Part C — The minimisation and separation guarantees
- Nickname, not real name — the display name can be an alias.
- No date of birth, age or gender — we don't ask for them and don't store them.
- No IP address stored against the account or against any consent record.
- Identity and learning data are stored apart — learning data sits under a pseudonymous identifier with no link back to who the child is; a single mapping record is the only link.
- Erasure means erasure — severing that mapping makes the learning data unattributable, and the child's records are hard-deleted.
- No advertising, no commercial profiling, no selling data.
- The narrator voice is AI-generated (marked with an inaudible watermark). We do not record, collect or clone your child's voice — there is no microphone capture.
